Ever since I permanently quit WoW in 2011, I've been trying consistently to find a new, better MMO to delve into, but thus far, I've been unsuccessful. Despite many attempts to get as invested in a new game I've yet to give up, and I think the reason I've never really settled in to a new MMO like I did in WoW, is because WoW for some reason, also got the social aspects right, at least back when I played it.
It's just far more fun to play with friends, and meet new people, something I've failed at repeatedly for the last 4 years.
So If anyone else here is interested in investing in a new MMO with me, perhaps start a guild and build it up, please let me know here, or just discuss MMOs in general.
Currently, I'm considering getting Wildstar, which I Beta tested and really enjoyed, but never bought since I had no friends who would also get it. But now Wildstar is going Free to Play later this year, and I'm hoping that'd be incentive enough to encourage other people to at least try it.
And I'm considering pledging to Crowfall, an upcoming MMO, due for release in late 2016 sadly, but with Alpha testing to commence this summer. It's a very, very interesting game, essentially a Game of Thrones type game, but here you actively take part in massive, world spanning Throne wars.
The game itself utilizes Voxel technology, just like Minecraft, except much less blocky. The art style Is closer to EverQuest Next, or even Wildstar, but with fully destructible environments, and physics.
I'm also playing a lot of Trove at the moment. It's another voxel based, free to play MMO. It's a lot like Minecraft, they both use voxels, though Trove is less blocky. It has quests, classes, mounts and all the other fancy stuff you expect from MMOs, but it has the Minecraft "build whatever you want" side as well.
It's a lot of fun, especially considering It's free. There are mini transactions sure, but It's certainly not pay to win.
I'm loving it, and please do let me know if any of you decide to try it. www.trionworlds.com/trove/
