She shouldn't be harassing you like that, can't she be ordered to see a therapist or something like that?

Based on what Amulet's told us, I'd advise to either consult a lawyer, or a cop. This behavior clearly isn't alright, so there simply has to be something to do on some level.

I totally agree with you, family issues can be very frustrating and @amulet should not have to deal with that from their mother in law.

My wife's brother is coming to visit next month so we can talk about this, their mother definately needs help and hopefully they can come up with a game plan. I just found out tonight that she has been doing the same thing to him. I am going to keep researching options on what to do. I have even thought about writing her a nasty letter but it probably make things worse.
In away I think she just wants attention. Two years ago after I had my heart attack a week or so later she called my wife telling her that she was at the ER with bad chest pains which wasnt anything. There are other things that she has done and this is really making sense that this is what she is doing. I am going to talk to my wife about this tomorrow and see if she agrees with me.

My wife and I had a long talk with my wife's brother and it appears my mother in law has had some nasty phone conversations with him too. He is tired of it too and we all agree that their mother needs some very serious help. My wifes mother sent her sons wife a gift a couple of weeks ago and they were very disturbed by it. It was a toilet seat. I have heard of bad gifts but this takes the cake. I just hope that we can get her commited or something soon.

Well when you gotta go, you gotta go. She sounds like a real special case, so again, the sooner you get in touch with the appropriate authorities, the better.

I think my wife and brother in law are going to do a intervention type thing to get her some help which I think it is for the best. Personally I really dont need this stuff I have to deal with my dad's health right now.
