I think the father was allowing him to swim. Yes, but children won't learned swim. A 2 year old can't know how to swim.

So many tragedies like this seem to happen.

"We're going to make certain that we have the alligator that was involved, and that we remove it from the lake," he said.
A bit too late for that eh then again parents shouldn't go into or allow children anywhere near alligator infested waters.

It's a very sad and unfortunate event of course, though nothing that they do to the alligator can change what happened. Even if they remove one alligator of course there are lots more in the water.

Perhaps it isn't really about how many alligators are in the water, Matt, it is about parents having the sense not to go into alligator infested waters bringing along their children, too. It's crazy what some parents do without thinking of the consequences of their actions. It so sad they lost their child as a result.

Also I read that there were no warning signs erected by the hotel stating that the waters in front of the hotel was infested with alligators. So maybe I was too quick in saying it was all the parents fault; I think the hotel should be held accountable too.

I'm surprised that there wouldn't have even been a warning sign too.
