Tragic story, and there's really no one to blame. Except 1 reptile. The parents didn't just leave their kid to wander about, they were close enough to try and fight the gator, but failed sadly. Shit happens.
The big mystery is how this would even have been allowed. I've read and been told that there's plenty of warning signs about the park. Apparently mosts visitors, and the park management are fine with having signs.
But for shits sake, It's a childrens amusement park. Simply putting up signs saying "Apex predators also live here" is bullshit and not enough. You can't have a park for families with children be infested with large carnivores, of any kind. This shouldn't even have been an issue to begin with.

Smaller parks or not, the matter of security is the same. They built that park in aligator country, they must accept the responsibility of securing it. Particularly because they also built a nautical section inside it.

I do wonder why they would put a children's park near alligators. Seems kind of odd.

I just don't know how a parent could allow a child to swim near a lake alone.
