Last night I stumbled upon an essay titled "RING THEORY: The Hidden Artistry of the Star Wars Prequels." Being a huge, lifelong Star Wars fan, I powered through the first page, 8 to go, and It's an incredibly interesting read. Even after so long, I'm amazed how many things can still be studied from these films. Here It is, free to read in Its entirety online: www.starwarsringtheory.com/I've yet to read the whole thing, but I'm definitely going to, but even on the first page, the author certainly brings up some very interesting points.

The essays explains how the Star Wars Saga, at least the first 6 films, were made following a very unique form of storytelling, that is unprecedented in cinema. The general point of it, is to elevate, and prove that the Prequels in particular are in fact excellent movies. They've been criticized almost non stop since 1999, and at least in my opinion, a lot of the hate directed at those films is completely misplaced, and based in personal bias.

I'm currently on page 4, out of 9, and It's an amazing read. The author highlights (with pictures) the incredible amounts of similarities between the 6 films, and points out key events, which may have been overlooked by many, but who subtly ties the entire saga together in ways I doubt most fans ever realized.

I have never been a star wars fan, but this does sound quite interesting.

I didn't even know people hated the prequels so much. I didn't even think there was anything wrong with them. Probably just them being bias, as you said. That does sound interesting, I'll have to read that soon.

I didn't even know people hated the prequels so much. I didn't even think there was anything wrong with them. Probably just them being bias, as you said. That does sound interesting, I'll have to read that soon. It's one of the most heated debates among Star Wars fans. There's a small, but quite vocal number of fans who hate the prequels to such an extent, they pretend they don't exist. Another fan made something called the "Machete Order" which is a delibarate sequence he believes people should watch the films in, which completely omits Episode I. The order suggested is IV, V, I, II, III, VI. It's an interesting idea, but a complete insult to the films. Sorry to go on a tangent here, but It's an interesting discussion among Star Wars fans. The people who completely disown the Prequels tend to be among the same crowd of ST fans who also hate the later changes George Lucas has made to the films, such as Han shooting first, adding, or changing scenes etc. Fans have gone so far as to make Blu Ray editions which are just the original trilogy, updated to a Blu Ray format. Here's the original article putting forth the "Machete Order" concept, if anyone's interested: www.nomachetejuggling.com/2011/11/11/the-star-wars-saga-suggested-viewing-order/I've never watched that particular order since their reason for doing so Is basically, and I quote: "George Lucas believes that Star Wars is the story of Anakin Skywalker, but it is not." That's just too arrogant for my taste. Personally, I still enjoy the prequels just as much as the original trilogy, just as I still love the whole franchise.

I knew people thought the fourth one was special but I didn't know they completely ignored the prequels. It doesn't make sense. The prequels connect the story of the original ones. And George Lucas wanted to make the actual first one first but he couldn't, so he went with the one he thought would succeed the most, the fourth one. I like the whole franchise like you and I don't see anything wrong with that. And I'm not going to suddenly start watching them in a certain order just because someone on the Internet said so. That's just what I think.
