These types don't do anything for nothing. So do you think things should just be given to you? Do you think you shouldnt have to buy a car, or cell phone, food? If you do, then that will never happen because it hasnt ever happened since mankind. Were you quoting someone or did you accidentally put your text into the above quote?

These types don't do anything for nothing. Your logic is more riddled with holes than a block of Swiss Cheese that's just been executed by firing squad. There are over 1800 Billionaires in the world, are you seriously suggesting that every single one of them, by association, is a greedy who would never even buy their own children birthday presents if they couldn't get a tax break from it? What about Hundred Millionaires? Are they not greedy because they lack that 1 extra zero on their bank statement? Is there a switch that flips on when they finally tip over 999 Million and makes them greedy? What about people who are Billionaires in one country, but not others due to exchange rates? Do you think that once someone becomes a Billionaire, they must actively strive to become un-billionaires again so as to not be greedy? Do you think that if the owner or CEO of a company is a billionaire, that they must then offer their products for free, because they can afford it? With that I'd like to turn back to the original point of the thread.
As another point of why It's completely fair and fine for Microsoft to charge for their actual core products, and why Bill Gates shouldn't have to pay for anything. They shouldn't charge at all. Typical example of corporate greed. You hit the nail on the head there, the owner of Microsoft is a billionaire so why charge? Sure, he worked hard at innovation and building his own company from the ground up, lets punish him for it! The average income in the US in 2011 was around 27,500$, Microsoft has just over 114,000 employees worldwide. You do the math if Bill had to pay for all that and tell me that's reasonable to ask of 1 man, just because he makes good business and investment choices. Furthermore, there's just no logic or reason in that statement. If the owner of a company is a billionaire, he should just pay for the stuff they make? Good news everybody, that means we get free clothing, cars and food, 'cause most CEOs of global companies are also billionaires. This is clearly not how the world works, nor how it even should work. Windows has cost money since the day it was launched, up until today. The whole free upgrade thing was a brilliant marketing stunt, but nothing more. It was never a secret that eventually, they'd charge for it, like they have with literally every other version of Windows ever. This is not about greed, It's not about Bill Gates having billions of dollars, It's about the most basic principle of running a successful business. We are not entitled to free software upgrades, cars, food or clothing because some person, somewhere makes more money than us.

Um, I am not sure about that one to be honest. But I think it is disgusting that Microsoft now no longer seem to sell Microsoft Word, but rather charge a yearly subscription of around £60-£80. I will be taking my custom somewhere else for writing software. I use Open Office it's free to use and just as every bit as good as Microsoft Office. Click HERE to read about it imagineer, and decide is it adequate for your needs.

Recently Microsoft took away the free upgrades to Windows 10 and now charges a fee of 119.99 to upgrade, do you think this is fair? I think it is ridiculous as we should be entitled to free upgrades on a computer that we purchased. People had a long time to upgrade for free and those that didn't well their choice I guess, but they really have no cause to complain now after the free date set has passed. I can understand everyone wanting free computer upgrades, but that choice was given within a generous time frame. Anyone that didn't avail of the golden opportunity well it's sadly their own fault and their loss.

[br Well I wouldn't say I agree with it but I understand it's within their rights to. Why don't you agree with it? Because as a consumer why should I have to pay for the software of a computer I already purchased? I do understand why they charge for it and that is within their rights but I still don't agree with it. They are going to start phasing out security updates for older windows yet they charge to upgrade. It's a lose/lose situation for the consumer.
