Do you think it should be mandatory to vote?
I personally don't think it should be although I know in some countries it is mandatory and you could face a fine if you do not do so. I definitely think people should be voting more often but I don't think making it mandatory is the right step.

I don't believe it should be mandatory, but I do encourage everyone to vote anyway. We got that right that many in the world would kill for, we should use it.

It's mandatory in Australia and we have one coming up. I don't think it should be but if you don't vote you don't really have any right to criticize whoever gets in.

To me, making voting mandatory defeats the whole concept. It's like saying "you're free to choose whatever you want, but you have to choose". People that don't vote have no right to complain about the government. Why not? I've not voted many a times, not because i didn't want to, but rather I just hated the menu. But I still have somewhat informed opinions, I stay up to date on various topics, and I am a citizen. Why shouldn't i have the right to complain? Or as another example, what If you vote for a party everyone knows will never get elected for anything, a party that's basically a running joke. Specifically the Nazi party (yeah we have one here, legally). Voting for them is literally wasting your vote. Probably your life too. But by your logic, you voted for the Nazis, so you have more of a right to complain than someone who just didn't vote altogether?

Fined (not sure how much) and if you can't pay the fine, jail I guess.
