Agreed. But then on the other end you have games like Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls that focus too much on story, to the point that it starts to get boring from a gaming perspective. I loved both of those games, but it felt like doing chores a lot of the time. Something in between would be nice. Good point. My main issue with those games isn't the story focus, It's the gameplay. They were games, trying to be movies, trying to be games. Something like Alan Wake had a great blend of story parts, with plenty of action in between. I actually have been wanting to play that game since I read that it has a Twin Peaks vibe to it, but I don't have an XBox. I've actually considered getting one just to play that game (among others). I guess a lot of the problem is also the limitations of gaming itself. There's only so much you can do mechanically. Shoot this target, drive from here to there, block this, climb here. Even when the gameplay is good, it can get repetitive after a while. Maybe virtual will change that? Gaming will be more about interacting with the environment and experiencing the story as if you're a part of it. Can't wait to see where gaming is 5-10 years from now.

I used to be a big gamer, but I'm not so much anymore, I'm thinking of getting back into gaming again though.

Very tough to say, I'm not sure on my definite favorite but some of my favorites are Wind Waker, Undertale, EarthBound, and Metroid Prime.

Though my favourite video game of all time had to be the animal crossing series.
