I'll take a look at that video. It's only a minute long, thoughts? They literally test all cars thoroughly these days, regardless of make, type or price. Autonomous cars would be no different. If a company ever decides to produce them, they will of course be tested in every relevant capacity.

I'm on my phone so I didn't watch the video yet because I don't want it to eat up my data but I will look at it when I get home.
I still think it will be a significant amount of time before these automated cars hit the roads though.

It might actually be sooner than you think. Google is making progress, pretty steadily as I understand it. And Tesla's Autopilot is amazing, much like anything else Tesla makes. Elon Musk himself claims that their Autopilot makes driving much safer than with a human at the wheel.

Probably several years until they actually become standard items on the market for everyone to buy though.

I'm not sure how reliable Tesla's Autopilot is, or how frequently it's used. It is standard on all Tesla models made from 2014 onwards though. And of course legislation need to catch up with these rapid advances.
But in a sense, given how much Tesla is selling, it is sort of standard already, and reasonably priced.
By a wider definition though, companies like Ford, Renault, Volvo, Fiat etc. would need to offer comparable services though, so in that regard yes, it will take many years before It's standard. Of course if the laws manage to keep up with the progress.

Another issue would be laws, I'm pretty sure in the current society laws wouldn't permit for a self driving car to be on the road, many driver laws would have to be revamped and rewritten to account for these new cars.

Yes, laws would have to change for these types of cars, as there is no driver at the wheel, for example, if there is a car, where you can speak to it (like Siri ) and you ask it to go to 100 miles an hour so that it kills the person in front, who do we blame? The robot did it.. ?

Cars like this should wait, for a while, technology is advancing too fast, we need to slow it down a little :/
