Well, lots of cars are more expensive. The thing that makes the S class special is just all its toys.

Good point, but I think we're getting a bit off topic here.

I believe that the crash was the owners fault, as there is an option to override the autonomy and save yourself which he/she didnt do.. :/

The crash would not be the owners fault because they didn't override it. I would call that a direct flaw in the technology itself.

The crash would not be the owners fault because they didn't override it. I would call that a direct flaw in the technology itself. Actually, reports are now saying the driver may have been watching a Harry Potter movie, and had become distracted: jalopnik.com/man-killed-in-self-driving-tesla-was-watching-harry-pot-1782935648This would probably be in clear violation of the terms of service you have to agree to, before Tesla activates your Autopilot function. Specifically you must have both hands on the wheel, and be watching the road, and not go faster than about 62 mph I believe.

How would it matter what the driver was doing if the car is supposed to be " Self Driving " then what's the point of a self-driving car if you have to have both hands on the wheel and be watching the road.

How would it matter what the driver was doing if the car is supposed to be " Self Driving " then what's the point of a self-driving car if you have to have both hands on the wheel and be watching the road. Because in order to use Tesla's Autopilot, you have to agree to the terms I mentioned earlier. If he was violating the terms, he's at fault. Tesla doesn't hide that their program is a Beta as well, meaning no one should trust it blindly. The idea that the car is already "Self Driving" is a trait you're imposing on it, rather than what it actually is. It isn't something every Tesla owner can just turn on, you do need to agree to the terms of service, and have it manually turned on. Even with this crash in mind, "This is the first known fatality in just over 130 million miles where Autopilot was activated. Among all vehicles in the US, there is a fatality every 94 million miles. Worldwide, there is a fatality approximately every 60 million miles."

Well I don't know where those statistics are from but still technology can make mistakes, we all know it isn't perfect.

Tesla provided the statistics in their press release. but still technology can make mistakes, we all know it isn't perfect. Yeah um, no one's arguing otherwise?
