Not until a 100% autonomous car is available to purchase. Until then, so long as even 1% of the driving has to be done by a human, you will need a drivers license.

Yes that's true of course. I don't know if cars will ever be 100% automated though.

Eventually, I'm sure some of them will be. It's hard to predict the future very far down the line. But even in the near future, there will be a market for both. You won't see Ferrari make an autonomous car anytime soon.

There probably will be both sold for a long time, I don't think human driving will go away completely either.

Now when it comes to self driving cars could it be considered as a self flying car? Of course not. It doesn't do anything any other car can't do, e.g. fly. guess you never heard of the flying car. It didn't sell because you need both a drivers license as well as one to fly. If a car operates themselves why would you need a license? That's what I'm getting at

If a car operates themselves why would you need a license? That's what I'm getting at I've heard of countless flying cars. They've been in various states of development and limited production for many decades, none have ever been entirely succesful enough for them to become commonplace and viable for production, specifically because of the price, and that you need a light aircraft license, as well as logistical issues. Like i wrote above; So long as even 1% of the driving can, or must be done manually, for whatever reason, there must be a licensed driver in the vehicle. If a car is 100% autonomous, and is not built with any manual driver inputs, of course you won't need a license since It's basically a robotic Taxi. But so long as there is a steering wheel and pedals inside the cabin, there must be someone there who can operate them.

Let's get this debate going again shall we I wonder if we'll eventually have self driving public transit buses that automatically go on their scheduled route without a bus driver.
