Have you ever tilted your game cartridges when your system was still on? Well it's not really recommended that you do that anyways, since it could damage your console or game. But some interesting glitches can occur when you perform cartridge titling. It's easier to do this on older consoles such as the Genesis, SNES, N64, and NES. It's less effective on the Gameboy or Game Gear, but you could do cartridge tilting with any cartridge based game. I've recently started to watch cartridge tilting videos again, I did cartridge tilting before but I don't want to do that anymore since I don't want to damage my old games. But here's one example of what could happen.

Matt, It's when you either tap your game cartridge in a game console that takes cartridge, or you slowly take the cart out of the cartridge slot. What it does is interrupt the circuit flow of the ROM and game console, resulting in various glitches. Or most of the time the game just freezes.

Wouldn't that damage the game cartridge?

It can overtime, and if you do so often. This is the case with Sonic the Hedgehog, in this video. The ending shows a red screen, which means there's a checksum error with the cartridge and the game will refuse to boot up, in emulators you can bypass this issue as many old Sonic hacks from the late 90's have messed up checksums, but on a actual cart... well you can kiss that game goodbye as I don't think there is a way to fix the checksum on a actual game cartridge... :\
