I think 90% homes have chimneys. I'm pretty sure it's not that high. |

Our house has a chimney but not a fireplace type chimney, I think it's got something to do with the furnace.

I might choke if I did not have a chimney attached, as it is a real fire and not gas or electric lol

I think fireplaces as a concept has been steadily dwindling in popularity since heaters, and radiators were invented. Maybe today the majority can be divided into 2 categories: Old fireplaces, and modern ones.
Lots of people, even in apartments, can invest in smaller, cleaner fireplaces, which mainly serve a decorational purpose.
