Yes but general forums mostly do well, but you're right - social media has had it's impact on message boards. Yes, I think forums that are just a general chat forum ( like this one ) Still do pretty well. but it is much harder to run a forum now then it used to be. But I still believe we can build a strong community here.

Is minecraft still popular? Still popular dude. You gonna pick it up? Given the number of people just on this forum who are into it, getting a private server for forum members might even be a good idea. Playing alone is fun for sure, but you get some amazing experiences and memories playing online with new people and friends. Some of my fondest gaming memories are from Minecraft servers, both playing Creative and Survival. Playing with other people in a basic survival world is awesome. You can each find something to work at, to create something together. Overcome obstacles and challenges, or just screw around. In Creative you can just challenge each other's creativity, pushing the imagination to new places. Many moons ago I hand built (No mod tools) a "Valhalla" for a small server, which I am very proud of, and everyone else loved it. It was 150 blocks long, 75 wide and 90 high, without that roof. For a while it was the largest build on that server, and I placed every one of the 22,132 blocks one at a time.

I'm not exactly sure how minecraft works with the servers and such but I'm sure I could learn, Actually I think I will get Minecraft soon, hopefully it'll work on my 2009 Windows Desktop

It costs a monthly fee to keep it running of course (but it won't get deleted if you just don't pay for a month). You just pay money one place, then It's all handled from the game launcher itself. Doesn't take more than a few clicks and you're all set. I wouldn't mind pitching in for a server if we decided to pursue that idea. And I'm quite confident your PC can handle it.

I think there might be a free demo for the Windows 10 Minecraft version in Microsofts app store, plays really well. Only on Windows 10 PCs though.
